Festivities Gone, Arriving....

it's my birthday weekend.

so far it has gotten off to a pretty good start. this past thursday night, i went to the liberty ball, here in washington. the liberty ball is for the Floridian delegation. don't ask me why we got those, it's just what we ended up with.

it was wonderful. lesa, my gracious date, and i had a wonderful time. there was a big band style band playing there. they were doing lots of sinatra stuff, which lesa really really liked. i enjoyed it as well.

we danced, and talked to people. the mingling was sparse, to be honest. the space was so huge, and spread out it was very difficult to find or see the people that you knew. i bumped into a girl i go to church with, but before that i happened upon some partygoers who had just been at my work's inaugural party a few days before.

all in all it was a wonderful time. both of us looked smashing. lesa wore a black, sleeveless dress, with a red/black silk shawl that hung over her shoulders. i wore a classic black tuxedo with a vest and black bowtie. i forgot to wear my red silk handkerchief in my front coat pocket. it would've been nice.

yesterday i spent a good amount of the day hanging out with my friend carol from NY. she is down for all of the inaugural festivities. we went to the national gallery of art and saw a lot of works.

i really enjoyed the post impressionist work, although the artists' names now escape me.

this sunday i'm going to an iranian film festival at one of the smithsonian museums. a friend and i are going to watch an iranian comedy. there's no cost to the public, so that's definitely up my alley.

well, today i'll spend some time drinking coffee, thinking, and doing a bit of cleaning. my birthday party is tonight, and we're expecting accumulating amounts of snow in dc this weekend. that should make for an interesting time, although i really hope the party's not cancelled. we'll see.

thanks for stopping by,

Cameron
