Ladder 49

Last Friday night, I went out with a few friends of mine to watch this movie. It was awesome. Ladder 49 highlights what's right with America, and lifted my spirits. [Not that I was bored or bummed, beforehand or anything.]

This movie is packed with emotionally charged situations, as actor Joaquin Phoenix navigates his way through the life that he's chosen as a firefighter. He and his wife daily battle the ups and downs that come with having such a dangerous occupation. It also serves, in my mind to highlight the importance of the international brotherhood of firefighters. This is definitely a fraternity in the truest sense of the word.

To my knowledge this movie isn't based on a true story, but it sure seemed like it--and it's a great salute to the brave men in this country who serve the public by firefighting. It's definitely a tear jerker as well.
